How Nurses are Trained & Educated • The training takes at least 3 years • They are educated in university - it is a degree level programme • 4 different types of training: • Adult • Child • Mental health • Learning disabilities
How Nurses are Trained & Educated • They spend half their time in the NHS during training • They learn nursing by caring for people, carers and their families • They work alongside experienced nurses to gain skills and knowledge
How Much does it Cost? • In the East of England we train more than 1,500 nurses every year • This costs more than £100m a year
Why are we Doing a Review? • We want people to have the best possible nursing care • Recent stories in the news show we need to find out what is working well and what we need to improve.
What is the Review? • We are talking and listening to a range of key people • We are writing up our findings • We are working with NHS and universities to make things better
