Introduction: • Compelling attention getter! • Demonstration, image, quote, etc. • Introduce world issue and define • Cohesive thesis statement • Inclusion of cause, effects, and call to action Example: Due to (…) that causes (world issue) in (location) the effects are/result in (…) that have created the organizations of (…) to intervene/take action and (…)
Cause:(2-3 slides) • Explain bullets and transition… • Effect: (2-3 slides) • Explain bullets and transition… • Call to Action: (2-3 slides) • Explain bullets and summarize
Conclusion: • Explain consequences if audience doesn’t act • Close all 3 categories with a strong, persuasive statement/image/quote, etc.
6-8 minute presentation DO: • Consider colors that are PURPOSEFUL • This = Hi! You can read this; yay! • Bullet points: Concise/general • No more than 10 words per slide • You expand in the presentation! Example - • Causes: Poverty, Lack of government rule • Effects: Child labor & death
DON’ T: • Does this hurt your eyes? • Can you read this? • World issue: Our wolrd issue is slumdogs and we believe that it is a terrivle thing….
Visuals/Media Clip • Use at least 2 visuals on each slide • Visuals consist of images, charts, graphs, clip art, etc. • Imbed a short video • Video is relevant to world issue • No more than 1:30 in length
