Introduction The purpose of the RCP is to provide the coolant flow to remove heat from the reactor and transfer it to the steam generators. The pumps used are single-speed, high-inertia, centrifugal seal less pump.
Operation • The pumps operate at constant speed during all power operations. (Steady State) • Variable frequency drives are used for pump startup and operation when reactor trip breakers are open. (Transient Conditions)
Simulink Modeling of RCP This is a simple model that shows one reactor coolant pump.
Interaction with other models Plant Control To Reactor Coolant System Initial Conditions Steam Generator
Input/Outputs Input (from) Output (to) Pump flow rate, for each pump (GUI) Pump Status (GUI) – green & red lights, ON/OFF switch Mass flow rate, enthalpy, pressure, temperature (RCS) • Flow Rate, temperature, enthalpy (SG) • Pump status, trips (PCS) • Initial Conditions (PCS)
Other Issues • Pressure Drop calculations – who has responsibility of it? • Transient Conditions – • Does my model has any inputs from the core model? • Questions???
