INTRODUCTION • The purpose of this Training Needs Assessment is to identify how the PSDSRA might best support the training needs of the San Diego Port’s shipyard workers. • The results of this assessment reflect the responses of 44 of the approximately 150 members surveyed. Five surveys were conducted in person.
RATING SYSTEM • In rating the training needs the following scale was used: • Not Beneficial = 1 • Somewhat Beneficial = 2 • Beneficial = 3 • Very Beneficial = 4
SAFETY TRAINING RESULTS • The top 8 safety training needs are listed below by highest average score: 1. Creating a Safety Culture (3.65) • The Supervisors Role in Safety (3.61) • Using Portable Tools (3.54) • Working In and Around Confined Spaces (3.47) • Understanding Hazardous Communication (3.46) • Implementing a Safety & Health Management System (3.43) • Protecting Yourself From Falls (3.43) • Applying Personal Protective Equipment (3.38)
PRODUCTION TRAINING RESULTS • The top 7 production training needs are listed below by number of write in responses: 1.
