3. Enduring Understandings Students will understand how technology can be used to identify their genetic makeup.
Students will use the understanding of genetic tests can be used to diagnose, treat, predict, and prevent genetic diseases and disorders.
4. Enduring Understandings Students will form an understanding of how genetic testing can be used to promote health and the quality of life; while at the same time, the testing as well as the results can be misused.
5. Where is this taught? We feel that this is best taught at the end of a unit on Genetics.
Though some activities could be used as anticipatory sets for the entire unit.
With limited time and prior knowledge of genetics (I.e. AP Biology or Anatomy/Physiology) this could be a stand alone unit on ethics.
