  2. What is Hulu? • Video service that provides users with TV shows, movies, and clips in a simple and convenient format • Founded in March 2007 • Owned by NBC Universal, News Corp., The Walt Disney Company, Providence Equity Partners, and the Hulu team • Does not require subscription

  3. How does Hulu use the free economy? • As of now, Hulu is funded by advertisements which are shown periodically during the TV episode. • However, Hulu will soon (as soon as May 24th) become a freemium service. • Changing to paid subscription because Hulu isn’t generating enough money due to small amounts of ad space.

  4. Greatest Asset • Providing users with quality streaming videos for FREE • Generally, TV shows are posted on Hulu the day after they are shown on TV. • Very user friendly interface • Can discuss videos with other users • Instead of watching whole episode, you have the option to watch clips. • Hulu provides recommendations of other videos you may enjoy.

  5. Future Growth of Hulu • Hulu will continue to be an option for TV without a TV • Will continue to grow in popularity, but some users may be turned off when they have to pay $9.95/month in order to access all content.

  6. Social Media Integration • Hulu allows users to watch their videos on MySpace, blogs, and other social networking services. • Can become a fan of Hulu on facebook and discuss videos with other fans
