Mission, Values and Vision • Our purpose, often stated in terms of what we do and who we do it for….. • What we think is important, and how we go about what we do. • What paths we take and how we will progress towards our mission in the future.
Myths about visionary people! • Visionary people are more right-brained and creative than most. • Visionary people are born, not taught. • Visionary people became visionary as a result of their leadership position. • Visionary people are supernaturally good at telling the future!
What visionary people do • They think about the future without constraints imposed by existing parameters. • They question assumptions and existing guidelines that may appear to be parameters. • They keep an eye out and foresee likely events and take advantage of opportunities when they arise.
Creating your vision • What is your vision for your department or area? • What assumptions did you make, and parameters did you color outside? • Why will others believe in your vision and help make it a reality? • What can you do to make it happen?
If you can dream it, you can do it -Walt Disney Never make the mistake of limiting your visions of future, by the narrow experience of your past. -Dr. Lewis Losoncy I never hit a shot, not even in practice, without having a very sharp, in-focus picture of it in my head - Jack Nicklaus VISION WITHOUT ACTION IS JUST A DREAM!
