What is required for graduation? 126 hours of required coursework. 2-3 18 hour semesters or summer school Electronic and Print students may need more 18 hour semesters or summer school 18 hour minor outside SJMC
How does one get into Upper Division? Complete Jour 201 and 202 with a C or better Declare a minor by the end of 60 hours Complete foreign language requirement Complete 60 hours of coursework USC and cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better
What grades must a student earn? • Must complete all journalism and minor courses with a C or better. • May attempt a journalism course twice. • Must complete Engl 101 and 102 with a C or better. • General education courses do not require a C or better.
What happens if a Student is on Probation? Must have 2 appointments with the Advisement office Attend 3 sessions at the Academic Center for Excellence The student has 1 semester to raise GPA to 2.5 or higher. 75% of Spring 2011 Probation Students raised their GPA
Placement Tests Foreign Language- score of 2 or better=completion of foreign language for SJMC Math- More complicated!
Math Placement Required Stat 110 • Students also need: • 1 STAT course • 1 CALC course • 2 CSCE courses • 2 PHIL courses
