What is Title I? • Program established by the Federal Government providing financial assistance to schools to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards. • Title I funds provide additional academic support and learning opportunities to help low-achieving children master challenging curricula and meet state standards. • Funding supports extra instruction in reading and math. • Schools with 40% or more of their student population on reduce or free lunch program qualify for Title I funds.

The Federal No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) requires that all students perform at or above the proficient level on their State’s standards-based assessment by 2014. Districts and schools must achieve Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP). This refers to steadily increasing the percentage of academic proficiency from year to year.The Academic Performance Index (API) measures school performance, sets academic growth targets, and monitors growth over time based on the CST results.
Repetto CST API Scores • Academic Performance Index (API) score of 872 • Decrease of 9 points from last year • Significant subgroups all above 800 • Asian, Socioeconomically Disadvantage (SED), and English Learner subgroups decreased from last years scores • Hispanic subgroup maintained 807
Repetto CST AYP Scores • Overall, Repetto did not meet the proficiency rate for ELA (89.2%) or Mathematics (89.5%) • Subgroups did not meet Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for ELA • Asian subgroup was the only subgroup to meet AYP for Mathematics
Transition to Common Core State Standards (CCSS) • Last year of CST testing • ELA and Math target -100% • CCSS in 2015 for grades 3-8
“CLOSING THE GAP”The Individual Intervention Learning Plan (IILP) • Provides an ongoing record of assessment data and Response to Learning Supports that have been provided. • It is a folder maintained for each student who does not meet the minimum proficiency levels identified for each grade in the AUSD Identification Criteria for Intervention and/or Retention.
“CLOSING THE GAP”The Individual Intervention Learning Plan (IILP) The IILP folder will include: • Scores of state assessments • Behavior reports • Intervention program supports • Progress monitoring data for Tier ll Reading Intervention Programs
Parent Notification/Signature Page • Provides a continuous record that parents have been informed of their child’s need for intervention services and possible retention. • Parent must sign each year child meets criteria. • Provides a record of parent contact and agreement to support child’s participation in an intervention program within the school day or afterschool.

RtI² in a Nutshell: • Knowing where students are and what they need • Knowing what to do for them • Knowing how to monitor their progress • Knowing how to adjust instruction, time, groupings, and/or programs based on this progress.

Parental Involvement Policy Each Title I funded school must develop, jointly with parents of children receiving Title I services, a written school parental involvement policy that describes how the school will carry out the parental involvement requirements in No Child Left Behind, Section 1118. The requirements consist of four components: • Title I Parental Involvement Policy (copy) • School-Parent Compact (copy) • Building Capacity for Involvement (parent advisory councils) • Accessibility (scheduling of meetings for parents)
