Adaptations • Organisms best suited for their environment pass on their genes to the next generation • Ex. Moth coloration (Ketterwell) • Ex. Panda’s thumb • Changes in the frequency of traits over generations can be explained by violating the Hardy-Weinberg Rules (next week)
Order: Primates • Characteristics: hands & feet for grasping; relatively large brains • Suborder: Prosimii • lemurs, tarsiers • Suborder: Anthropoidea • monkeys, apes, humans (opposable thumb) • Paleoanthropology: study of human origins
