National Technology Standards (NETS) • Use digital photographs to answer writing prompts, Web 2.0 (Wikis, Blogs) websites to collect and share information • Conduct Internet research using WebQuests (includes a project) • Explore Internet resources that enhance lessons such as: BrainPop, Educational Videos, Interactive websites and Spreadsheets to create graphs/tables for lab activities • Students will analyze lab experiments, compare their results and display the information in the appropriate graph format.

  3. Blogs A blog (sometimes referred to as a weblog) is a Web publishing tool that allows authors to quickly and easily self-publish text, artwork, links to other blogs or Web sites, videos and a variety of other content.

QR Codes • QR stands for Quick Response – they are bar codes on steroids. • It is a matrix that when scanned by a camera immediately brings up text, website, video and other types of information. • You can go to an online QR code generator and then use a QR code scanner app for a smart phone to scan and read the generated code.

  9. Prezi – Presentation Tool • Prezi is cloud-based presentation software that opens up a new world between whiteboards and slides.   10. Photovisi –www.photovisi.com • Photovisi is an online image tool that lets you create collages from your photos.

Spezify – www.spezify.com • Search tool with visual results – click on the image and it magnifies then click on the link at the bottom of the image to go to the website. • Search the following by typing in the search box: • Spezify – click on video on how to use • Venn diagram • Newton’s 3rd law of motion

  14. Wordle is a toy for generating “word clouds” from text that you provide. • The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. • You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and color schemes. • The images you create with Wordle are yours to use however you like. • You can print them out, or save them to the Wordle gallery to share with your friends. • *Note that the wordles are not screened for content. • Let’s try it

Educational Uses for Wordle: • “About Me” • “Guess What” – description of an animal, topic, book • “Word Wall” – consist of new vocabulary (or phrase) that is displayed in a prominent position throughout the unit.  It identifies the key vocabulary students need to understand the subject. • Check for Prior Knowledge – brainstorm words that relate to a particular topic. For example – DNA

  16. BrainPop – www.brainpop.com • BrainPOP is an educational website with hundreds of short Flash-based movies for students in grades K-12 (ages 6 to 17) covering the subjects of mathematics, technology, health, science, social studies, arts and music, and English.

Glogster- www.glogster.com • Glogster is a social network that allows users to create free interactive posters, or Glogs. • A "Glog", short for "graphics blog", is an interactive multimedia image. • Go to glogster.com and click on the green EDU on the bottom right. • Click on – best glogs- at the top and then view the moon landing. • Educational Uses – themed projects

  19. WebQuests • A WebQuest is an inquiry-oriented lesson format in which most or all the information that learners work with comes from the web and typically ends with a student created project.

Zunal – www.zunal.com • Is the Force of Gravity With You? • Webquest –www.webquest.org • To search for a webquest go to the link “Find a WebQuest” on the left side of the page, • Click in the yellow box “search the QuestGarden data base”, • Go to Curriculum x Grade Level Matrix and select science and the grade level then search.

  21. Wikis • Wiki is a term meaning "quick" in Hawaiian • It is a website where contributors can easily add, delete or generally change the content which has been put there.
