  2. Current Drug Policy • Ban on drugs such as steroids, hormones, steroid masking agents, and stimulants. • Testing is done during spring training, and one other random time during the season. • 1st offense – 50 game suspension. 2nd offense – 100 game suspension. 3rd offense - banned from MLB.

  3. Why Is This Harmful? • New technology = new competition • Some drugs, such as HGH, are undetectable through testing • Inconsistent persecutions • We are mandating what athletes can do with their bodies, when their bodies earn their paycheck

  4. An Alternative “Policy” • Educated physicians monitor the intake of performance enhancing drugs by athletes • By studying the athletes physical make-up an attempt can be made at a healthy “diet” in order to give the athletes safe benefits • Penalties would be personal within the organization

  5. Benefits of the Change • An opportunity for each athlete to level the playing field • A bigger, stronger, athlete with more endurance would be born • American people get their homeruns, slugfests, and exciting games
