THE BAD • Theodosius I the Great (died 395; 53rd GGF of AE King Sr) Roman Emperor -- when the citizens of Thessalonica rioted to protest the Roman Garrison he had 7000 of the citizens murdered • Theodo of Bavaria (died 716; 40th GGF of AE King Sr) His daughter Uta became pregnant and blamed Bishop Emmeram (later St Emmeram), leading her brother to murder the saint • Roricon I du Maine (died 839; 38th GGF of AE King Sr) Fathered an illegitimate child with Rotrude, daughter of Charlemagne • Louis the Blind of Provence (died 928; 32nd GGF of AE King Sr) Had his eyes gouged out after an unsuccessful attempt to overthrow Berenger I of Italy

THE BAD • Arnulf the Bad (died 937; 35th GGF of AE King Sr) Robbed the churches to fund his wars against the Hungarians • Igor the Grand of Kiev (died 945; 30th GGF of AE King Sr) Killed by the Drevlians while trying to collect taxes from them; they tied his legs to two trees, bent the trees to the ground, then released them, dismembering him • Arnulf I of Flanders (died 964; 29th GGF of AE King Sr) Invited William Longsword, Duke of Normandy, to a peace conference, then murdered him • Olga of Kiev (St Olga) (died 969; 30th GGM of AE King Sr) Avenged the death of her husband by placing Drevlians on ships, setting them to sea, then torching them. Also known to have boiled many of them alive

  4. THE BAD • Roger de Toeni (died 1040; 27th GGF of AE King Sr) Captured many Muslims during the Crusades. Each day he killed and butchered one Muslim captive, then fed it to the remaining prisoners • Waltheof of Huntington (died 1076; 25th GGF of AE King Sr) Beheaded for conspiring against William the Conqueror • Eudes I de Bourgogne (died 1103; 27th GGF of AE King Sr) Attempted to rob Archbishop Anselm (later St Anselm) as he passed through his land, but wound up paying homage and going on Crusade • Fulk IV Rechin (died 1109; 27th GGF of AE King Sr) His wife, Bertrade de Montfort, left him to become the consort of Philip I, King of France

THE BAD • Enguerrand I de Coucy (died 1116; 27th GGF of AE King Sr) Divorced his wife to marry Sibyl of Château-Porcien , who was still married to the Lord of Lorraine who was absent and in a war and she was pregnant by another man • William IX of Aquitaine (died 1127; 28th GGF of AE King Sr) Planned the First Crusade with Pope Urban in 1095; banished 2 wives to Fontverault Abbey, then abducted ViscountessDangereuse to marry her • Thomas de Coucy (died 1130; 26th GGF of AE King Sr) While on Crusade he captured Muslims and hung them by their testicles

THE BAD • Archibald Douglas (died 1439; 14th GGF of AE King Sr) Both of his sons were beheaded by James II at the 'Black Dinner' at Edinburgh Castle • Alexander Livingston (died 1451; 15th GGF of AE King Sr) Supported James II of Scotland against the Black Douglases. In 1440 he invited William Douglas, 6th Earl of Douglas and his brother to dinner at Edinburgh Castle, presented them with a bull's head at the dinner table, then killed them (The Black Dinner) • Alexander Lindsay (died 1454; 14th GGF of AE King Sr) Earl Bedie, when friends refused to play cards on the Sabbath, Earl Gowrie proclaimed that he would play with the devil if he could. A stranger appeared at the castle (Glamis) and played cards with the Earl, winning his soul

  7. THE BAD • William Crichton (died 1455; 16th GGF of AE King Sr) Supported James II of Scotland against the Black Douglases. In 1440 he invited William Douglas, 6th Earl of Douglas and his brother to dinner at Edinburgh Castle, presented them with a bull's head at the dinner table, then killed them (The Black Dinner) • William Drummond (died 1490; 12th GGF of AE King Sr) Killed 19 members f the Murray clan by setting their building afire, for which he was tried and executed, even though his sister Margaret was the king's mistress • Janet Douglas (Lady Glamis) (died 1537; 11th GGM of AE King Sr) Convicted of witchcraft by James V of Scotland, she was burned at the stake at Edinburgh Castle while her son watched. She now haunts Glamis Castle as The Grey Lady

THE BAD • Patrick Ruthven (died 1566; 10th GGF of AE King Sr) Led the group that murdered David Rizzio, secretary to Mary, Queen of Scots • William Ruthven (died 1552; 11th GGF of AE King Sr) Participated in the murder of David Rizzio, secretary to Mary, Queen of Scots; plotted the kidnapping of King James VI (The Raid of Ruthven); the plot failed and he was executed • James Graham, Marquess of Montrose (died 1650; 7th GGF of AE King Sr) Supported Charles I's efforts to bring Scotland under the Anglican church. After Charles' execution, James was hung, then drawn and quartered, his head hung from the Tollbooth at Edinburgh Castle
