The first double-blind research study of IrvingiaGabonensis (African Mango extract) in humans took place in 2005, comparing participants taking IrvingiaGabonesis to a control group on a placebo. All subjects maintained their normal calorie intake. • After 30 days, the participants taking African Mango extract lost an average of 12.3 pounds. On average, subjects taking IrvingiaGabonensis lost 5.3% of their body weight, while the control group only lost 1.3%, which represents a significant difference in weight loss between the two groups. At the same time, the African Mango extract group also exhibited significant reduction in their waist measurements compared to the control group. • The study was published in the May 2005 issue of the journal Lipids in Health and Disease. Remarkable results were also found in a second, larger clinical trial of IrvingiaGabonensis (African Mango extract) in 2009. Over a 10-week period, otherwise healthy overweight and obese participants took either IrvingiaGabonesis (150 mg twice daily before meals) or a placebo, while making no other changes to their diet and exercise levels. • By the end of the study, those using African Mango extract had lost a significant amount of weight – an average of 28 pounds – while the placebo group lost virtually no weight (~1.5 pounds). The researchers found that the subjects in the African Mango extract group experienced “significant improvements in body weight, body fat, and waist circumference”. They had a 13.1% decrease in body weight, shed 6.7 inches from their waistline, and reduced their total body fat by 18.4%. Second Clinical Study
