  3. Definition • Prostitution –The practice or occupation of engaging in sexual acts with someone for payment. • Pimp-a person, who solicits customers for a prostitute or a brothel, in return for a share of the earnings • “John”- Customer • Brothel- A building where prostitutes are available

  4. Bunny Ranch • Most known brothel in Nevada. • Opened in 1955 • All workers tested for STD’s • “Sex Menu”

  5. Pros • Reduce crime • Improve public health • Increase tax revenue • Help people of out of poverty • Get prostitutes off the streets • Reduce prevalence of rape • Reduce HIV/AIDS infections

  6. Cons • Lead to increase in sexually transmitted diseases • Global human trafficking • Violent rape crime such as rape and homicide • It is immoral • Empowers the criminal underworld • Promotes the repression of women by men
