Aim • To reduce the number of spillages when carrying food on a tray.
Rationale • We intend to embark on the project because often, hot soup is spilled onto the person carrying the tray, which can cause some injury, be it minor or not. If the solution is out on the market, it could prevent injuries like scalding.
Concept • When the bowl or cup slides around on the tray, liquids in the bowl or cup would be spilled. • Therefore, we aim to restrict the movement of the bowls or cups so that the liquids would not be spilled, thus saving the consumer from nasty scalds.
Target Audience • Food consumers in a hawker center / food court. They have to put their food on the tray to bring it back to their table, which is where spillages occur.
Methods / Materials • Create a tray which would prevent them from moving around. • We will need resources like plastic trays, some rubber sheets, and a few other resources to make our prototype.
BACKGROUND RESEARCH • Each year, approximately 116,600 children are treated for fire/burn injuries in USA. • Scald burns, caused by hot liquids or steam, are more common types of burn-related injuries among young children.
Final Form • A completed Web-based Report, a working prototype of the Invention, and lastly our invention log.
