The Wizard of Oz  Movies/ Theatre • Contrary to popular belief, movies were a luxury during the thirties, and movie businesses lost millions of dollars • Films became more realistic, acting was less staged and comical • Color started to be consistently used, gaining an eventual popularity • Some famous movies were: The Wizard of Oz, Gone with the Wind, and The Public Enemy
