Residential School for students of Himachal Pradesh - MIT VishwashantiGurukul The concept of Residential schools in India dates back to ancient times when the princes and the children of privileged people would get the chance to educate themselves. These children were sent to live with their teachers devoid of all the privileges the children used to get at home. The place of their teacher was called Gurukul, which can be roughly translated as the house of the Guru, i.e. the teacher.
