People do this to remind the person to wear green the next year or to remind them that it’s St Patricks day. It’s also a good reason to pinch someone randomly.
Who was St Patrick? • St Patrick wasn’t actually Irish. Not even a tiny bit. St Patrick was the patron saint of Ireland and is one of Christianity’s most well known Saints. There have famous stories of St Patrick, like when he supposedly banished all the snakes from Ireland, but these stories are really untrue.
What does the four leaf clover symbolise? • The first leaf symbolises hope. • The second leaf symbolises faith. • The third leaf symbolises love. • The fourth leaf symbolises luck. • It is said that if you find a four leaf clover, you will get the luck of the Irish.
Why does everyone wear green? • People wear green because it represents Ireland. It also represents shamrocks and the spring in Ireland.
How is it celebrated? • In America they have big parades in the streets and almost everyone gets dressed up and wear’s green. Every one goes to the Bar or Pub and gets drunk and has a good time.
