  1. “The Lies We Believe”John 8:30-36; 3 John 1:2-3 The psalmist prayer. “Keep me from lying to myself; give me the privilege of knowing your instruction” PS 119:29 NLT (MT 13:6-7)

  2. The Truth About The Lies We Believe • Lies produce emotional and spiritual misery. • LIES: are beliefs, attitudes, or expectations that contradict the reality of Gods Word. TRUTH: is reality, not as its seen, felt, or experienced but as it is set forth in God’s word. God’s word is reality no matter what seems to contradict it or argue against it.

  3. Lies believed creates strong holds of bondage in the mind (2 COR 10:3-5). Seeing believing and acting on God’s truths breaks down strong holds and produces spiritual and emotional health and freedom (JN 8:30-36). • Thoughts create emotions. Thinking according to truth brings health and healing. Scripture refers to this as: being renewed in the spirit of your mind (ROM 12:2; 2 COR 3:18). “Transformation occurs first in ones thoughts – then emotions – resulting in obedience and joy (JN 15:9-11).

  4. The human brain is made up of the conscious and the unconscious. The mind is similar to an iceberg in that only about ten percent is seen above the surface, the remaining ninety percent is below the water line – or in the subconscious. The unconscious mind has recorded all of life's experiences, events and thoughts – we live out of this subconscious mind. We live according to those accumulated recordings – however we can record over them.

  5. Jane and Her Lies

  6. Jane Was Telling Herself That: • Making mistakes is awful. (This is the “I must be perfect” lie). • Her husband was the cause of all her marriage problems. (This is the “It’s all your fault” lie).

  7. Being overweight mad her a rotten person. (This is the “you are only as good as what you do” lie). • God was disgusted with her because she wasn’t doing “Christian” things. (This is the “God’s love must be earned” lie).

  8. How to Be Happy “Teach me your decrees, O Lord; I will keep them to the end. Give me understanding and I will obey your instructions; I will put them into practice with all my heart. Make me walk along the path of your commands, for that is where my happiness is found.” PS 119:33-35 NLT

  9. Transformation By the Word of God • Lies will conform you to the world, and to the God of this world. God’s word will transform you to the image and likeness of God. (ROM 12:2) • Hebrews 4:12 • Mark 4:15 • 2 Corinthians 3:18 (James 1:23) • 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12 • Matthew 6:22-23
