Drummer • Symmetrical audiometry. • Uses a high hat cymbal near left ear. • “Feels” that left ear is “not right”. • Next slide shows asymmetrical OAEs
Musician moving away from drummer • Lead singer with drummer to rear. • High hat cymbal to the singer’s rear-left. • Improvement in left ear OAE after 6 months when moved away from drummer. • No audiometric asymmetry noted on either test, despite OAE asymmetry.
“TTS” at a non-audiometric frequency • After a loud performance, audiometry was normal, but, abnormal 5000 Hz OAE. • This is not a routine audiometric frequency. • Audiometry was performed at 5000 Hz and a 10 dB notch was noted. • Resolved after 2 weeks (probably sooner).
