Introduction to Mrs. Cañar Dear Students, I am thrilled to meet all of you! We are going to have a great year together. I am sure you are wondering about who your new teacher is, so let’s start answering some of your questions…
My name • Q: How do you pronounce your name? • A: C-ah-n-yar • A couple of tricks: Kanye [West] + R
Name explanation continued • “ ñ ”—a.k.a. an “n” with a tilde (~) on top—is a letter from the Spanish alphabet called “enye.” • It makes the sound you hear in words like: Piñata and Jalapeño
How did that happen? • Q: Where did you get a name like that from? • A: I got my unique/awesome name from my husband, Michael.
Introducing husband • We have been married for 5 years now (we are getting old)!
Name origin continued • He is from Ecuador (in South America--hence the Spanish last name!)
How did we meet? • We meet as college students at BYU. We both lived at the Riviera apartments.
Where I am from? • Unlike my husband, I am not from an exotic foreign land. • I grew up here in Utah.
Where in Utah? • My family lives in Orem. • I graduated from Timpanogos High School.
My family • I am the oldest of 5 siblings. • I love to spend time with my family.
I love teaching! • Of course, I also love reading, writing, and… teaching students like you! • I am excited to be here at Springville Junior High with you for the rest of this year. • Let’s make it a great one!
