  1. Under the Flags of USA and Taiwan

  2. It was in the afternoon of July 2nd, 2006, in the main squareof the Temple of Three Phoenixes, in Kaohsiung city. 1

  3. The people were gathering in front of the Temple of Three Phoenixes and sitting on the steps where it was a little cooler because of the shadow of the building. As on most summer days, the temperature in Kaohsiung was very high. 2

  4. I was sitting there with my friends, too. My friends, an old man and a young man, are two of Dr. Roger Lin’s best supporters who live in Kaohsiung city, but I am from a small town which is located in the mountains of central Taiwan.3

  5. While we were talking about the election, an old man came to me and asked me: “Miss, where can I get a flag like the one in your hand ? “ In my hand, I had a flag of USA with a Taiwan logo imprinted on the right side, and had been waving it around casually all the time since I entered the main square. 4

  6. “ Do you like it ? “ I asked the old man. “ May I? “ He answered me. “ Sure! No problem! “ I said to him and gave him my flag immediately.  I could see that he was happy. He had a big smile on his face after receiving the flag from me, and he returned to his seat to listen to more of the speeches. 5

  7. The people left the steps and walked up to the elevated stage when Dr. Roger Lin was getting ready to appear. I went to get more flags from the service counter and then returned to the crowd of people.  Many people waved their hands around and asked me to give them the flags. Within just a few minutes, almost everybody in the square had a flag in his or her hand. 6

  8. I found some people were not only listening to Dr. Roger Lin’s talk but also reading the booklets and flyers piled up in front of the stage . But some had no information in their hands. So, I returned to the service counter and brought several different pamphlets. Some old men stared at me and by looking into their eyes I could see what they wanted.  I walked back and forth among the people and passed out leaflets and other information to interested parties. 7

  9. Literally thousands people were there. Under the flags of the USA and Taiwan which were flying over the main square, they learned all about the truth of Taiwan history after World War II . In the near future, I hope that there will be more and more people who will learn the truth of Taiwan history too .8

  10. At that time, all 23 million Taiwanese people will cheer for their new life under the flying flags of the USA and Taiwan.  It is a vision that we hope to see in every corner of Taiwan soon. God bless the USA and Taiwan ! By Audrey Deng July 14, 2006 9
