Food Web – • a group of food chains within the same ecosystem.
Roles within Food Chain / Food web • Sun – the energy source that fuels a food chain. • Producer –plants convert the sun’s energy into food by a process known as photosynthesis.
3. Consumer – an organism that eats another organism. • Herbivore – an organism that eats only producers. • Carnivore – an organism that eats only other consumers. • Omnivore – an organism that eats both producers and consumers • Scavenger – eats dead organisms.
Decomposer - – an organism that feeds on dead or decaying matter and breaks down the nutrients into the soil making them available for use.
