Togliatti has always been a young city. Even today, 270 years tater after the foundation if’s not an ancient, becoming older and older city. The fact that the emperor Peter the First noticed the most splendid and the most beautiful of the river Volga surroundings, where the city Zhigulevsk is now, proves that Togliatti will be exclusive city. Later the empress Anna Ioanovna signed the order to build a settlement which in 1738 was called Stavropol and Ekaterina the second ordered to create the emblem of the city. So many regal people took part in the city foundation. Vaciliy Nikitich Tatishev was a real founder and an ideological creator of Stavropol. It’s the greatest city building in Russia. The biggest one but it hasn’t got the finction of the administrative center. The biggest Hydro-Power station, car factory , chemical factories which became the base of the city power were built here. All these are situated in the area of the unique place called «Samarskay Luka» which is the world nation property.
150 years ago the town was a climate resort. People from all over Russia came here to treat, to breath treating, pine air, to drink some «Kumis». In 1910 the resort «Lesnoe» was built where there were modern treating methods. The Everything the most progressive and modern constantly appeared in Togliatti, it attracted the attention of the young and strong people who came to its buildings. Togliatti tourist will be like this: ecological safe city, ready to share its natural resources with the visitors. Togliatti has always been the city which met and excepted something new with great enthusiasm, just this ability helped the city to remain young.
Togliatti is not like St. Petersburg, Moscow or Samara where you can find the monuments wherever you give a look. But Togliatti has enough, different by kind, monuments. On the Liberty square there is the oldest monument «To the fighters for peace» where the eternal fire, brought by the armoured troop carrier from the fame obelisk of Samara, was set the 3 November 1978. Here you can see an interesting monument placed in the public garden near the Liberty square - «Nations friendship». In the central park of rest and culture there is a monument "Sorrowful angel" devoted to the political repression victims. In the L. Yashina street you can find the most popular and famous dog-monument called «Devotion». This monument is like a tribute to the sad story of a dog waiting for so many years for its hosts near this highway and not understanding that they died in a car crash and would never come back. The most famous monument - monument to the city founder V.N. Tatitshev placed on the quay, This monument is situated in a very beautiful place at the area of water of the sea and mountains Zhiguli.
Museums, theaters, galleries. Today Togliatti has 7 culture palaces, more than 10 cinema halls, more than 83 museums, picture gallery, philharmonic society, modern exhibition complex, adults and chudren library system, symphonic orchestra. Three professional skilled theaters work now in Togliatti -state drama theater «Kolesso», municipal doll theater «Piligrim», young spectator theater "Experiment' and moreover Togliatti has lots of studios, youth-theaters having their own spectators. Togliatti's local history museum tells the visitors the history of our city, art gallery shows the best authors' collections and collections of modem art.
Temples The Sviato-Preobrazhenskiy Temple is one of the most beautiful orthodox temples in Russia. It's a little less than Our Saviour Temple in Moscow. Its glaring cupolas rise above the city and The temple itself, very white and rushed to the heavens like a candle, strikes by its soft and pleasing look.There are lots of other beautiful temples in Togliatti such as wooden The Virgin Temple in the port settlement, the monastery, the Sviato-Tihonovskiy, the Virgin Kasan icon, the church of the Virgin Pocrov, the Saint loaneKranshtadskiy who predicted the Stavropol's flood, visit and admire. National Park “Samarskaya luka” National park Samarskaya luka is a main region natural resource. Its equal to the world-famous treasures like the Big Barrier reef in Australia. Samarskaya luka, made by the rounding of the river Volga and protected by the mountains Zhiguli, is a special place. During millions of years a special microclimate and the vegetable kingdom were formed here. There are some ten species of plants which grow nowhere on the earth but only here on Samarskaya luka. Rare animals live here, large colonies of bats live in the galleries left after industrial works, the treating springs go from under the ground here. The picturusque mounains Zhiguly have lots of legends, each – having a part of the real region history. Their name prove it in a clear way: Molodetsky kurga, Devia mountain, Popova mountain, montain Tyip-Tyav, mountain Verblud(camel) and even Osh-Pando-Ner. Though the names: Vorovskoy ovrag(burglar ravine), zmeiniy zaton (snake aerie), Strelnaya mountain we can guess about robbers who gave Samarskaya luka great but sometimes even bad fame. Strange events attract many UFO-Scientist here and those who like to collect inexplicable wonders.
Village Shyryaevo. This is the least part what you can see in Samarskaya Luka. Here is a wonderful village Shyryaevo, very little hut which had the most famous and well-known people of the past and present. In the old days llya Efimovich Kepin made here some drawings of the famous picture «Barge haulers on the Volga» and made lots of the drawings of the Volga hanks. Well-known and famous poet Alexander Ahramov-Shiryaevets was horn in the village Shiryaevo, he was also a close friend of Sergey Esenin.Today there are museums of Repin and Shiryaevets in the village which are open to the visitors and tourists. And president Putin, having visited Shiryaevo, marked the unusual beauty of this place.
Village Tashla. Near Togliatty there is a well-known village Tashla where lots of Russian pilgrims go. In the autumn 1917 year Tashla keleynitsa Katya saw 3 times in her dreams the Virgin who pointed her the place where to go and find the Virgin icon. Katya and her friends went to the pointed place and found the icon of the Virgin "Protecting from desasters" and from that place at the same time a miracle and treating spring started to flow. From all over Russia and even from nearest abroad Ukraine, Byelorussia many pilgrims and ordinary people come here. People from Germany and Baltic come here too. They come here to bow to the Virgin icon, bathe in the saint spring, take the treating water for relatives, bow to the other saint icons kept in the Sviato-Troitskiy temple, visit the graves of the just people — the nun Seraphima, "God's fool" Stepan Nikiphorov, recently dead nun Margarita who is well-known and respected in Samara region.
Villages is Usolye. The one of the most interesting villages is Usolye in Shigonsky district of Samara region which has a historical architecture monument of the first part of the 19th century— the country estate of the earls Grigoriy and Vladimir Orlovy-Davidovy.As the director of the Samara Art museum Tatiyana Aleksushina says «among all the country estates built in the beginning of the 19th century that one is the most beautiful and interesting». The village of Usolye was given to brothers Orlovy by the empress Ekaterina the Great in 1767. It became their main residence. That time it was a luxurious country estate with a park and a garden made by French gardener Pompe. It's a pity that today this state is very poor and the tourists' interest have to attract the attention to its guard and its restoration.
AvtoVAZ AvtoVAZ is the Russian automobile manufacturer formerly known as VAZ:Volzhsky Avtomobilny Zavod (VAZ Volga Automobile Plant), but better known to the world under the trade name Lada. The current company name is "AvtoVAZ". AvtoVAZ produces nearly one million cars a year, including the Kalina family , Lada Granta family Lada Priora family, Lada 4x4 (former Lada "Niva") and Lada Largus (Automobile Dacia platform), as well as the cars of Renault-Nissan alliance brands: Renault Logan II, Renault Sandero II, Datsun on-Do and Datsun mi-Do (the Nissan sub-brand), and Nissan Almera New. The VAZ factory is the largest car manufacturer in Russia and Eastern Europe and one of the largest in the world, with over 140 kilometres of production lines; it is unique in that most of the components for the cars are made in-house.
