How does it work? • Presented as both a physical and web based resource to track performance and progression. • Delivered in blocks which incorporate festivals to encourage children and parents to play/learn together in a FUN environment. • It has been designed to focus on process (eg making a good Putting stroke is more important than holing 3 out of 5 Putts), not outcome and for children) with varying abilities to all learn together. • The programme includes a competitive element to most of the games but also importantly a personal best section to create an individual way to monitor progress and improvement.
Skills for Life The Junior Golf Passport will allow your child to learn and practice the basic golf skills – putting, short game, long game, playing and the golfer’s code – which will lead to the psychological and physical benefits associated with improvement, personal achievement and life-long participation in golf. Golf also places strong emphasis on standards of behavior and, therefore, is an ideal way through which children can develop six core personal skills – safety, honesty, respect, commitment, communication and leadership – which will help them through their youth and into adulthood. Through the application of ‘Skills for Life’ the Golf Foundation is helping to generate committed young golfers and mature young individuals.
Fit for golf • This element incorporates some key fundamental movements skills that will allow the child to become better physically prepared to take on the challenges of golf. • The aim is to raise the awareness of the child about the importance of fitness and movement to their lives and golf. • A comprehensive library of demonstration clips are available online and they are an important and fun part of each lesson.
The Website • First online structured learning programme designed for junior golf. • Allows PGA Professionals to register and pay online. • Encourages juniors to track their progress and to learn through fun games and activities online. • Offers advice for parents. • Allows interaction from coach to junior.

Feedback from Parents “The Passport allows my child to grow into a sport at his own pace without experiencing the pressures and quite often damaging impact team sports can have on a child who is not as ‘sporty’ as many. “Golf suits his temperament and gives him a sporting and social activity that will stand him in good stead for years to come. Having played a few pitch and putt holes together his game is coming on very well and I can’t wait for the time we play our first full 18 holes. I will be delighted when he can shoot a lower score than his Dad (which probably won’t be that far off!).” A delighted parent
Feedback from Parents “I would just like to let you know how great the Passport system is. My son Scott is eight years old and has enjoyed all the learning in all aspects of golf. He has a great teacher in Steve Parry who is very good at explaining and showing the kids how to enjoy golf while learning the game. It's a great atmosphere with both girls and boys loving the game.” Ian Anderson
Feedback from Parents “My Grandson Louis Vaissiere is attending lessons on Thursday nights at Bawburgh. He tells me that he is finding the lessons enjoyable and fun whilst learning different aspects of the game. It has also given him the chance to make new friends.” Peter Vaissiere
