  1. The Day my life changed

  2. My journey towards special needs and disability ministryWhat God showed me about it…

  3. Jesus Heart Mark 9:21 “Jesus asked the boys father, “how long has he been like this?”Luke 13:16 “then should not this woman a daughter of abraham, whom satan has bound for eighteen long years, be set free on the sabbath day from what bound her “

  4. People brought people to JesusMatthew 15:30 “great crowds came to him bringing the lame, the blind, the crippled the mute and many others, and laid them at his feet and he healed them”

  5. People with special needs and disabilities came to Jesus Matthew 21:14 “the blind and the lame came to him at the temple and he healed them”

  6. Jesus was intentionalJohn 5:1-3 “some time later jesus went up to jerusalem for one of the jewish festivals. Now there is in jerusalem near the sheep gate a pool which in aramaic is called bethesda and which is surrounded by five covered colonnades. Here a great number of disabled people used to lie the blind, the lame, the paralyzed”

  7. Jesus ministry descriptionMatthew 11:2-4When John, who was in prison, heard about the deeds of the Messiah, he sent his disciples to ask him, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?”

  8. Jesus replied, “Go back and report to John what you hear and see: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor.

  9. Who jesus wants us to inviteLuke 14:12-14“Then Jesus said to his host, “When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or sisters, your relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid.

  10. But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”

  11. Some troubling questions • Do I have a heart like Jesus? • If my church is all about Jesus why aren’t people bringing people affected by special needs and disabilities to meet Jesus? • If my life is all about Jesus why aren’t people affected by special needs and disabilities coming to me? • Am I or my church intentional about seeking people out who are affected by special needs and disabilities? • Does our churches ministry report look anything like Jesus’? • Am I or my church inviting the type of people Jesus told me to invite?

  12. When God shows you something you have to do something • Prayer • Special Needs Initiative • Personal and Church Repentance • The Banquet Network
