Endangered or Threatened Species • Recognize the fact that some endangered or threatened species can coexist with agricultural operations. • Cost share programs to farmers who have such species on their operations. • Relocation costs of species deemed necessary by the general public should be shared and not all expense fall on the land owner/farmer

  5. Over Burdensome Regulations • Streamline regulatory aspects to eliminate duplication. • Make regulations more practical, user friendly and more economically feasible. Concern: Ag is regulated by numerous agencies. Water Safety Labor Health Land Use DEP Army Corp Of Engineers Department of Interior Local Governments Many agencies often duplicate regulations and at times even conflict with each other.

  6. Pest • Ports inspections should be increased to insure that foreign pest are not introduced into the country. • Continued research to develop new technologies in pest control.

  7. Disease • Adequate research and research dollars to manage or eradicate diseases that affect agriculture. Brucellosis Canker Greening

  8. Agriculture should be considered part of National Security. Improved procedures to insure agriculturalists overcome natural disasters. (Recovery Process) Streamlined insurance processing to assist in the event of natural disasters. Inclement Weather
