Contrary to their name, rough sawn mantels use to have a much neater and more finished form than hand reclaimed wood mantel. More than a century ago, these reclaimed timbers from a barn were milled using a circular saw, as evidenced by the circular saw marks still visible on the beams. The timbers were salvaged from an abandoned barn.
