Reclaimed Barn Wood Fireplace Mantel Shelves — Modern Timber Craft The reclaimed barn wood (reclaimed wood shelf) fireplace mantel shelves shown are a representation of the piece you will receive. These are authentic reclaimed pieces of wood so no two are the same! A solid reclaimed barn wood 3x8 fireplace mantel shelf, bracket mounts and hardware are included. The back of each piece will be routed to help hide the brackets, but pieces are NOT pre-drilled for the corresponding hardware, unless the upgraded bracket is purchased. Holes will need to be drilled into the back of the product in accordance with the bracket location on the wall. This requires a 1/2" drill bit. When you upgrade to our Heavy Duty Floating Shelf Brackets, handcrafted in Pennsylvania, the holes are pre-drilled for an easy installation. Wood coloring can change the finish dramatically when applied. For example, we have many pine pieces that appear brown when oiled. We also have many that will look reddish when oiled. Yellow pine tends to end up more reddish, and white pine looks brownish but that is not always the case. Other factors (reclaimed wood mantel) that impact appearance are the age of the piece, the environment in which it spent its life, and the overall condition.
