For Your Information Writing task: The Situation • Two bodies have been found at Dunsinane castle, home to Lord and Lady Macbeth. • One white male, the other white female. • The male body was found in the grounds of the castle with a fatal sword wound. • The female body was found within the castle, cause of death unknown.
The Crime Scene Body One, male, found within the castle with a fatal sword injury. Body Two, female, cause of death unknown.
For Your Information Following further enquiries… • The male body has been identified as that of Macbeth. • A bloody sword was found next to him, forensics have proven that it is not Macbeth’s blood. • Macbeth was known to have many enemies. • Most renowned was Macduff, Thane of Fife and friend to Malcolm - son of old King Duncan
Further Information News just in… • The female body has been identified as Lady Macbeth. It is still unclear as to how she died. • Macduff and Macbeth were indeed bitter rivals and it is rumoured that Macbeth was responsible for the murders of his entire family • Also, Dunsinane Castle was the site of another death earlier this month. Apparently Old King Duncan was murdered here! Guards were blamed for his death but no culprit was found.

Further Information After questioning of servants in the castle… • Lady Macbeth had been behaving very strangely in the weeks leading up to her death. • She was sleepwalking and talking of blood. Also she was constantly washing her hands. • Her death is not being treated as suspicious but a cause is yet to be found.
Final findings… • Macbeth was also seen to be behaving oddly before he died. • Friends talk of him having visions of ghosts. • He was also seen talking on more than one occasion with three strange looking old women.
Main Writing Activity What next? • You must now write a report for your Chief Inspector • Include: • The scene of the crime • Victim’s names • Cause of death • What appeared to have triggered events? • Anything unusual noted in the case • Clues to the murder of Old King Duncan.
