  3. Entering Data Back to Excel Help Index Column Identifier Alpha Entering Data Row Identifier Numeric An individual cell is identified by using the column identifier and the row identifier. This cell’s identity is Column B, Row 5 or Simply D5 Data is entered in individual cells . This data can be in the form of numbers, dates, and text. When data is to be entered in columns it is entered from top to bottom. When the data is to be entered in rows, it is entered from left to right. Once data is entered, formulas can be created to add subtract, average, physics equations, etc. The Rows, Columns and individual cells or groups of cells can be formatted . Clicking on the Column or row identifier select the total column or row. Clicking on an individual cell selects that cell. It is also possible to click on a cel and while holding the mouse button down and dragging a group of cells can be selected. To see the formatting choices click on a row column or cell. View next slide for Formatting choices and procedure. Columns run Vertical The intersection of a row and a Column is a cell Rows run Horizontal

Back to Excel Help Index Header& Footer X X To select Header and Footer, Go to Insert/Text/Header & Footer The word Header will appear to the upper left of the spread sheet and a text box will be displayed in the center of the page. Anything typed in this space will be center aligned. There is also a hidden text box to the left of the center text box Click here to reveal it. Anything typed in this text box will be left aligned. There is also a hidden text box to the right of the center Click here to reveal it. Anything typed into this text box will be right justified. The Footer data layout is the same as the Header layout. The page number data is usually entered in the right text box in the Footer
