  2. Who is at risk? • Adults over the age of 65 are at high risk • Adults with diabetes • Alcoholics

Why is it so bad? • Pneumonia affects your lungs • Your lungs are a major organ in your body • Your lungs provide oxygen to your body through respiration • Pneumonia fills up your lungs making it hard for oxygen to pass through into your blood • Your cells cannot work properly without enough oxygen

  4. symptoms • Coughing • Chest pain • Fever • Shortness of breath • Shaking chills • Discolored sputum • Vomiting • Loss of appetite • Headaches • Elderly or infants may have few symptoms

  5. What does it do? • Bacteria gets into your lungs and infects them • Your lungs become inflamed and fill with puss and other fluids • Fluids restrict oxygen flow to blood stream • Cells stop working the right way
