Regional Summary • Birth rate may have stabilized • Medicaid increasing at all levels • No net change in smoking • High rates in Upstate NY • Induction rate plateaued • Epidural rate rising • Rising mostly due to increases at level I hospitals • Fewer episiotomies
Regional Summary • Cesarean rate may be stabilizing • Fewer primary but more repeat cesareans • Fewer “trials of labor,” although decent success in those who do try • Breastfeeding increasing • Three hospitals are at/above the HP2010 goal! • Obesity steadily increasing • About 1 in 10 FLR pregnant women are morbidly obese
