Boren Fellowship and Scholarship: Summer, semester, and year-long study in regions critical to US national security. Requires 1-year commitment to federal government. Scholarship campus deadline: mid-January. See also NSEP Flagship Language Program for graduate study in critical languages. • DAAD Scholarships: Semester and yearlong internships/research/study in all fields in Germany. Deadlines vary. Some require university endorsement. • Fulbright Grant: Cultural exchange funded by US State Department. One year post-graduate fellowship for research, study, or teaching English abroad. Campus deadline: mid September. • Fulbright UK Summer Programmes: Three, four, or five week academic and cultural summer programs for freshmen and sophomores. Deadline: mid March. • Gates-Cambridge Scholarship: Post-graduate study at Cambridge University in all fields. Applicants must show evidence of commitment to improving the lives of others. Deadline: mid October. • Gilman Scholarship: Funding for study abroad to non-traditional areas for students receiving Pell Grants. Deadlines vary. • Goldwater Scholarship: $7,500 for up to 2 years of undergraduate study in STEM. Campus deadline: early December. • Marshall: Funding for graduate study in the UK in all fields. Scholars are intellectually very strong and have significant leadership potential. Application requires four strong letters of recommendation. Campus deadline: late August. • Mitchell: One year post-graduate study in Ireland in all fields. Three selection criteria: scholarship; leadership; and sustained commitment to service and community. Campus deadline: late August. • NSF (National Science Foundation) Graduate Research Fellowship: $30,000/year for up to 3 years of research-based study leading to a MS or PhD in STEM and Social Sciences. Deadlines vary by discipline: mid November. Applicants should demonstrate leadership and the will to “fight the world’s fight”, and should have 5-8 very strong letters of recommendation. Campus deadline: late August. • Truman: $30,000 for graduate or professional school for juniors who are committed to making a difference through public service. Selection based on academic promise, service potential, and leadership. Campus deadline: early December. • Udall Scholarship: $5,000 to sophomores and juniors with the commitment and potential to make significant contributions to the fields of the environment, tribal health, or tribal governance. Campus deadline: early December.
