Outing at Foresta 2000 in Mellieha By: Ann-Marie Agius Year 4.1 Mr.Pulis
On the 23rd of February we had a school outing. We went to Mellieha at Foresta 2000 where there many type of trees grow and it is found in the north of Malta. We left at 9:00.When we arrived there, there was a man waiting for us. The man took us to a place where we can take our lunch. After we had our lunch, we went with that man. He took us at the Foresta 2000 and told us information about the national tree of Malta which is the ‘Gharghar’, about the Holm Oak tree and other type of trees. After he took us to another part where there were many different trees .There was the carob tree and it was big and tall. It had many carobs. The man showed us the seed of the carob. From the carob we can make syrup like honey and it is good to take it when we have cough. We saw a lot of pine trees too. He told us that if someone burn fire near the pine trees, the pine open and the seeds fell down. After pine trees will grow up again. Then we walked to another part and then we stopped for a while to eat something. After we went to see the thyme trees. From there we could see the Red Tower. • After it was time to go back to school. It was an interesting outing and we learned a lot of things about trees such as it is called Foresta 2000 because when it was opened, people plant 12000 trees in the year 2000.
