1. Dr. Monica Wehby: Redefining the Face of Pediatric Neurosurgery The famous neurosurgeon Dr Monica Wehbi has become the face of Pediatric Neurosurgery. For more than 20 years in practice, she has much more experience with pediatric neurosurgery than other specialists in her area. Talking about her educational background, she earned her medical degree from Baylor College of Medical in 1984. In addition, she is an alumna of the University of Notre Dame. Monica Wehby completed her fellowship in Pediatric Neurosurgery at a Primary Children's Hospital at the University of Utah after completing her residency in Neurosurgery at the University of California. She is an outstanding surgeon and has earned fame due to her deeds and various leadership positions she held in her career. Early Days of Career Dr Monica started her Neurosurgical career by working as a Micro Neurosurgical consultant in Portland, Oregon. Besides, she also served as the Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Randall's Children's Hospital at Legacy Emanuel. Later on, she started to work full-time at the premises. However, back in 2014, she became the Republican Nominee for US Senate in Oregon. As a result, she wanted to leave medicine for the political world. In addition, she was Northwest Regional Director of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and Board member of Ronald McDonald House Charities. Being reputed personnel, Monica Wehby is certified by the American Association of Neurological Surgeons board and the American Board of Pediatric Neurological Surgery. She has the license to practice medicine in three US states: Oregon, Indiana, and Nebraska. Verdict Dr Monica Wehby is known internationally for being an expert in spina bifida and tethered cord. Although she is an awardee of the Congressional Medal of distinction for improving Children's health, she is often seen speaking up that she has a keen interest in every aspect of pediatric neurosurgery. Her clinical interests include neonatal surgery, craniofacial reconstruction, hydrocephalus, congenital anomalies, and child abuse. Back in 2015, when she joined the Oregon State of reform conference, she expressed her concerns over the top-down approach to regulating health care. She likes to talk and work towards improving the health care system.
