WORKING ENVIROMENT • Most work in a large hospital • Other work in reference lab., public and government health agencies, research laboratories, pharmaceutical firms • Blood Donor Center • Equipment Companies • College and Universities • Self-employed
Length of Training • Bachelor’s Degree from a University • Hospital based training program • Student must have completed a Bachelor degree in a science program • Certification program • 12 months • Toxicology • Immunohematogy-Blood Banking • Microbiology
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION • Voluntary Certification, but most job required certification to be hired • Most graduate from accredited CLS program to be eligible to take national exam • Student are eligible to take the national exam from AMT, ASCP or NMT
