Diabetic Retinotherapy Diabetic Retinopathy is the leading cause of loss of vision in diabetic patients. Vision loss can be restored by timely treatment in some cases, but in many cases, vision loss can be partially or fully irreversible. It is the change in the retina of diabetic patients. Blood vessels in the retina become weak and leaky. These blood vessels can swell and leak. Or they can close, stopping blood from passing through. Sometimes abnormal new blood vessels grow on the retina. All of these changes can steal your vision. There may not be any symptoms even in late stages. Hence the need for periodic eye checkups. Common symptoms are blurring of vision, floaters and sudden loss of vision. Advanced diabetic retinopathy can lead to secondary glaucoma causing painful vision loss. Once diabetes has been diagnosed, yearly check-up is a must if diabetes is under good control. Once diabetic retinopathy changes occur then check-ups should be as per the ophthalmologist's advice.

  2. To prevent Diabetic Retinotherapy Keep diabetes under good control Have periodic eye check-ups Take prompt treatment as advised by the ophthalmologist Test Performed for Diabetic Retinotherapy Apart from vision testing , a detailed examination of the retina is performed. Fundus Fluorescein angiography may be required for some patients, in which a eye is injected into the arm vein followed by a series of photographs of the retina. OCT may be done if there is any macular edema.

  3. Squint Treatment: Squint is an eye condition, where the eyes do not look in the same direction. This means that one eye may not focus on an object someone is looking at. Crossed eyes can usually be corrected with early treatment. Several treatment options exist to align the eyes. They include special eye wear, use of an eye patch and rarely surgery. Squint is also known as Strabismus. Treatment of strabismus is aimed at aligning the eyes and restoring binocular vision. In some patients, spectacles or prisms can be prescribed to straighten the eyes. Some patients may require surgery. Patching the better eye to improve vision in the weaker (lazy or amblyopic) eye is often necessary.

  4. Treatment For Squint Treatment of strabismus is aimed at aligning the eyes and restoring binocular vision. In some patients, spectacles or prisms can be prescribed to straighten the eyes. Some patients may require surgery. Patching the better eye to improve vision in the weaker) eye is often necessary. Squint Treatment Surgery Method The ophthalmologist makes a small incision in the tissue covering the eye to reach the eye muscles. The eye muscles are detached from the wall of the eye and re- positioned during the surgery, depending on which direction the eye is turning. It may be necessary to perform surgery on one or both eyes. Recovery time is rapid. Children are usually able to resume their normal activities within a few days. After surgery, glasses may still be required. In some cases, more than one surgery may be needed to straighten the eyes.
