What Does the Transcription CD Do? Provides a link to download Windows Media Player Launches Word and opens the letterhead for each document Launches Express Scribe or Windows Media Player to begin the dictation
Getting Started (Continued) • Review the textbook activities for Chapter 1. • Review the Standard Transcription Procedures on page 14 of the textbook. • Create a folder on your flash drive or secure location for saving your completed transcription exercises (Ch1_Machine Transcription). • Check if Express Scribe or Windows Media Player is installed on your computer. • If not, you can install it from the Transcription CD.
Getting Started (Continued) Plug in the headset/foot pedal, if appropriate. Insert the Transcription CD. Install Express Scribe or Windows Media Player, if needed.

Getting Started (Continued) Select Chapter 1 and the first activity to transcribe. Click Launch Lesson.
Getting Started (Continued) • Word opens automatically. • Listen carefully to instructions from the dictator. • Complete the exercise; save the document in the folder you created for completed exercises. To continue: • Return to the main menu. • Repeat steps 9-12 each time you begin a new document.
Tips for Using the WindowsMedia Player(Continued) Use the toolbar to START, STOP, REPEAT, and PAUSE dictation. Begin the dictation by clicking the right arrow (Play) key.
Tips for Using Windows Media Player • Use the toolbar to control dictation. • Download the Windows Media Player toolbar to your task bar. • Right-click on the task bar. • Select Toolbars.
