This whole process can take a lot of time, but then again credit report is more rewarding than fixing credit. Validation of debt requires an authentic proof to show that the debts are authentic. When you request debt validation it is up to the collector that the debts assigned to them to collect are valid. This can be done by showing the original signed loan agreement or application in accordance with the debt. Sometimes, a simple print out do not prove the validity of debts. They have to prove it for real. Many collection agencies can try to bully you into accepting something that does not really validated the debt. It is your legal right to provide you with all the valid documents that could give you a proof of your debts.
Collection agency has only 30 days to respond to your request. Your correspondence with the collection agency should be in writing and mailed using certified mail through the post office. You're entitled to a free report if a company takes opposing action against you, like disagreeing your application for credit, insurance, or employment. You have to ask for your report within 60 days of receiving notice of the action. You can order reports from any of the three fix the debt credit report companies, Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. If these companies don't get back to you within 30 days of receiving your request then it is your right to contact the credit bureaus along with a proper documentation.
