E N D
Introduction Hebrews 1:1-3 Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high
I. There is hope, joy, satisfaction, and comfort, based on the Identity OF Jesus
Luke 1:1-4 Inasmuch as many have undertaken to compile an account of the things accomplished among us, just as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and servants of the word have handed them down to us, it seemed fitting for me as well, having investigated everything carefully from the beginning, to write it out for you in consecutive order, most excellent Theophilus; so that you might know the exact truth about the things you have been taught.
John 20:30-31 Many other signs therefore Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these have been written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.
1. Jesus is God: The one who came to dwell among his people Mark 1:1-3 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. As it is written in Isaiah the prophet, “Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way, the voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight,’ ”
John 8:57-59 So the Jews said to him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?” Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.” So they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple. Matthew 1:23 “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us).
2. Jesus is the Messiah: The deliverer and the redeemer of His people. 3. Jesus is the Suffering Servant: The one who would take our punishment. Matthew 27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “ELI, ELI, LAMA SABACHTHANI?” that is, “MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAST THOU FORSAKEN ME?”
II. There is freedom, forgiveness, regeneration, and redemption based on the Death, Burial, Resurrection, and Ascension of Jesus 1 Corinthians 15:3-5 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.
III. There is a call to Heart change based on the meaning of True Righteousness #1. Adultery (Matthew 5:27-30) #2. Keeping your commitments (Matthew 5:33-37) #3. Love your enemies (Matthew 5:43-48)
IV. There is purpose and mission through Jesus’ Commands to Discipleship #1. Disciples of Jesus are Servants #2. Disciples of Jesus willingly Submit to the Word (Luke 9:23-27) #3. Disciples of Jesus are Dependent on Jesus (Mark 9:14-29)
