Suggestions: • Deoxyribose (sugar): white • Phosphate: orange/salmon • Adenine: Blue • Thymine: Yellow • Guanine: Green • Cytosine: Red • Each student receives materials to make one of each of the four nucleotides • Students should cut out and assemble the individual nucleotides at home to avoid wasting class time. The parts should be connected with tape or staples • When assembling DNA chains in class, use staples for covalent bonds (phosphate-sugar) and paper clips for hydrogen bonds (between bases)
