  10. At the end of the Mexican War the United States acquired the Nevada region from Mexico. Most of Nevada’s soil is a grayish-brown color. Most areas have sparse coverings of grass or brush. Nevada’s chief natural recourses are its vast mineral deposits, wildlife and its beautiful scenery. Nevada’s deserts have many cacti, and low bushes. These include bitter bush, mesquite , rabbit brush , sage brush. Nevada has limited rainfall. It needs to be conserved and used carefully. Nevada has few large animals, but hundreds of small animals live in the state. Additional Facts
