Where Do They Occur? We Know where they occur, mainly on the Earth’s Plate Boundaries.
Why do They Occur? • As the Plates rub past each other the pressure builds up. • Then all of a sudden it is released.
How Do We Measure an Earthquake? We use the Richter Scale. This tells us how strong it was - 1 being weak and 10 being absolute devastation.
How are earthquakes recorded? Earthquakes are recorded on a seismograph. The print out tells us how powerful the earthquake was and how long it lasted.
This has Happened in Japan. Japan is located on a PLATE BOUNDARY. The Pacific Plate is being pushed under the Eurasion Plate. This causes a DESTRUCTIVE Plate Boundary.
