“I was very excited about becoming a Dad when my daughter was born... and again 3 years later when my son arrived. Although I was raised by a great Dad, I wanted to be an AWESOME one! At my wife's encouragement, I got involved in the YMCA Adventure Guides program. Over 10 years later I am forever indebted to the YMCA (and my wife!) for helping me to create the amazing bond that my children and I now share thanks to the many special "Dad and me" events that were part of this amazing program. But wait, there's more... much more! I never suspected that my time working on being an involved Dad would also allow me to visit places I would never have had the chance to see, try new things, make some lasting male friendships, help me to teach my children about "paying it forward" and improve my leadership skills along the way. Time goes by so quickly. Don't miss out on this opportunity to be an AWESOME Dad. You will be so glad you did!” – David

“When I started this program I was doing it as a way to spend time with my children. I have a busy work schedule and it was a way for me to carve out the time for family. What I quickly learned was that I was gaining so much more than quality time. I was getting to be an active part in having my children grow up. This program helped me show my kids how important they are and what values I want them to have. We have made so many memories during trips like kayaking and rock climbing. And have done lots of silly things like bowling in our pajamas and doing campfire skits. I enjoy all the ways I have gotten to know my kids better.” - Adam
