  2. Session Objectives • Gain practice using the WHA Quality Center Run Chart Tool • Learn how to annotate your data to help tell your improvement story • Gain knowledge on best known methods to displaying data to stakeholders

  3. What You Need • Your computer with Microsoft Excel Software • The WHA Run Chart Tool–Provided on the Jump Drives • Session Handout / Guide

  5. Step One • Open the run chart tool and save it to your personal location • Once open • File • Save as • You choose name and location but make sure it is in a easily accessible and memorable location • Save as any Microsoft Excel version

  6. Step Two • Activate Macros Or Then

  7. Step 3 • Let’s take a high level tour! • Choosing the correct worksheet • Finding directions • How to start

  8. What Did You Measure?

  9. Step 4 • Building your display • Click • Then insert your details, leaving target field blank for now • Click

  10. Take A Look • Scroll up to your chart and see the labels!!!

  11. Step 5 • Insert your numerators and denominators through September • Note: Baseline data is determined using the first 6 data points

  12. Take A Look • Scroll up to your chart and see how it has filled in for you!!!

  13. Step 6 • Calculate your target • Using your newly calculated baseline • Multiply that times your aim percent improvement • Example: 4.8 x 50% (improvement aim)= 2.4 • That number is your target • Fill in your newly calculated target rate in the blue “target” detail descriptions

  14. Take A Look • See now how the target line is displayed relative to your data line Target Line

Step 7 • Annotating your chart • You may notice how the chart is already annotated with the rates • To change the rate into text • Click three times in the box you want to change • A cursor should display in the annotation box • Type your annotation • You can move the annotation box to better fit your chart

  16. Step 7 Continued • To delete an unwanted annotation: • Click on the desired box until only that box is selected • Right click on the box and select delete

  17. Step 8 • Don’t forget to save when you are done!!

  18. Days Between or Simple Count • Use sample data on activity guide to practice • Work together, ask questions
