  2. Mononucleosis...”the kissing disease” Infectious mononucleosis (mono) is often called the kissing disease. The virus that causes mono is transmitted through saliva, so you can get it through kissing, but you can also be exposed through a cough or sneeze.

  3. CAUSE Cause- Epstein-Barr virusis the cause of mononucleosis. Most adults have been exposed to the Epstein-Barr virus and have built up antibodies. They have become immune and won't get mononucleosis again.

  4. Symptoms • The symptoms of mono include, but are not limited too…. • Fatigue • General feeling of unwellness • Sore throat/Strep throat • Swollen tonsils • Fever • Swollen lymph nodes in your neck and armpits

  5. Prevention Once infected, you can help prevent spreading the virus to others by not kissing them and no haring food, dishes, glasses and utensils until several days after your fever has subsided and even longer. Also, refrain from anything that causes infected saliva to be transmitted to anyone.

  6. Treatment Treatment is used to relieve symptoms… • Drink a lot of water • Sleep/Rest • Gargling warm salt water to relieve sore throat • Medication

  7. Cure?? There is no found cure for mononucleosis.
