Spanish Sweet 16 Tradition • In Mexico when you turn 16 it is marking that you are entering adulthood. They hold the parties at a church that they go to. The woman is usually dressed up and the escorts are wearing tuxedos. They have a big decorated cake that she cuts into and they make cake and they also make toast. Then after she cuts the cake they have a ceremonies that presents the girls parents, her girlfriends, family, and there escorts, who make two lines to greet the sweet sixteen. They give her a doll that means leaving childhood. Her mom gives the sweet sixteen high heels.
American tradition sweet sixteen • For Americans sweet sixteen is nothing special like Spanish sweet sixteens. To most Americans they usually get a car for there sweet sixteen. It is just another birthday to Americans. They usually celebrate the eighteen birthday.
