  3. Semantics: Unit Objectives At the conclusion of this unit, you will be able to: • Discuss the range of meaning of semantics • Distinguish between formal and informal semantics • Explain the main concepts related to semantics • Explain the role and importance of definitions in semantics

  4. Unit Structure This unit has the following content: • Discussion of the meaning of semantics • Introduction to the formality spectrum • Examples of “semantics” • SAPterm – SAP’s terminology database (informal) • WordNet – an on-line dictionary (borderline informal/formal) • Note: Unit 3 continues with examples of formal semantics
